Baseball and softball training for Pittsboro / Chatham Park.

Modern Day Sports Institute is a baseball and softball training academy being built by former Major League catcher Tim Federowicz. Most of the work is hitting, throwing, fielding, and strength — for players who want to get measurably better, not just stay busy.

What to expect

Serious work. A clear plan. A floor built for it.

Coaching that has been there

Training led by a former Major League catcher who still teaches the game the way it is actually played.

A plan for each player

Every athlete is looked at as an individual. Families leave with what to work on, why it matters, and how progress gets checked.

Small groups, not a crowd

Sessions stay small enough that a player can actually get coached — not lost in a large class.

Skill and strength on one floor

Cages, turf, and a weight room in the same building so development is not split across town.

Who it is for

Meet the player where they are.

Developing players

Building a foundation: clean movement, arm care, and habits that last.

Competitive players

Middle school and high school athletes who want a clearer weekly standard and a path to the next level.

Families who want more than a season

Parents looking for a place that can grow with the player — from a first facility into a longer academy path.

The vision

A serious place to develop. Built in phases.

  1. 01

Give local players a professional standard of work without making families leave the area to find it.

  2. 02

Start with a floor that is useful on day one. Add programs only when the training is already working.

  3. 03

Keep the standard consistent as the place grows — from the first cages to a later campus.

The Plan

Start with a training facility. Grow into a campus.

The public plan is the sequence. Details on operations stay private until they belong in a conversation.

01

Phase 1 Training Facility

Open a 7,500 SF indoor facility: four retractable cages, a center turf lane, a sprint lane, and a strength room. Training, teams, private work, and evaluations share the same floor.

02

Phase 2 Academy Programs

Grow the calendar around that floor — more structured sessions, more team opportunities, and a clearer year-round path for players who want more.

03

Phase 3 Campus

Expand into a full campus with a high school / post-grad academy so players who want a deeper environment can train and develop in one place.

Phase 1

What's inside Phase 1

A 7,500 SF indoor floor: four cages, a center turf lane, a strength room, and a place to look at a player and send the family home with a plan.

Open turf

A 15′ × 70′ center lane for fielding, agility, and throwing, plus a 12′ × 70′ sled and sprint lane tied to the strength program.

Cages

Four 12′ × 70′ lanes with retractable netting, so the floor can open up when the nets come down.

Weight room

An 18′ × 26′ strength room off the front walkway, built for young athletes — not a crowded afterthought.

Evaluation and video

A clear starting point for each player, with video and a plan families can actually follow.

Parent player plan

Every player leaves with a simple plan: what to work on, why it matters, and how progress gets checked.
